Internet at Home!
I noticed that it's been eons since I last blogged. Well, guess what! I now have Internet connection at home! I must really rave about Starhub's 2 Mbps promotion. Although the Internet connection started really slow (I was really wondering if it was any different from dial-up!), somehow it became better. Mister said that, followig the complaints about the lagging speed due to the overwhelming number of subscribers, Starhub had done something about the architecture. Okay, so that was me trying to make sense of IT hehehehe. Anyway, I am pretty happy with being able to connect to the world now, especially with my Mac, which, as I had said, was a steal from HK. Electronic products come cheaper in HK.
Well, for a start, I have tendered in my resignation! I am glad to get out of the pace where so many crappy things happened, yet a strange sense of uncertainty crept in all the same. Masters programme is starting next month, but I have so far not received news about my application for scholarships... It should not have been so difficult, especially give the fact that I am an employee. But, 1 of my colleague had gotten it. And another had gotten somewhere when others were so sure she wouldn't have been able to make it. I guess it pays to know the right person with the right authority and connections. Something I truly lack.
Then, there is this worry about the programme I had applied for. Yes, no doubt it will be "sellable". But I am more interested in another, new programme. Sigh, sigh. Plus, I guess it will take some courage to be a full-time student now. supposing I get the scholarship in the end, it will also not be easy to adjust to spending on stipend. Not that I am earning much currently. I may wanna re-think academia. Now, wait. I am not even a true academia. In truth, I have lost all faith in such category of "academia". Call me an old-fashioned, bookish historian...that's what I am at heart. I have been trained to despise plagiarism or intellectual theft.
Alrightie, time for that nightly call. More another time!
