Wedding at Fort Canning
Went for one of the sweetest wedding ever on Sat. It was not even planned and the connection is a bit strange as well: I vaguely know the mother of the bride as she works in our family biz. But the experience turned out really nice.
For one, I get a better idea about what I want for my own wedding, should I be fortunate enough to marry. It was a church ceremony conducted as a garden party, at Fort Canning. I loved the entire layout, complete with tents and some little lanterns and balloons. The late afternoon sunlight bathed the whole thing in a perfectly sweet, romantic light. After the ceremony, everyone proceeded for a delicious buffet dinner. I liked the fact that the couple decided to put the Lord and their guests first instead of themselves as the lead in the whole ceremony.
I never liked the idea of a Chinese banquet. Too commercialised and common. After a while, different weddings begin to blur into one and I am thankful for my youth because when I am old and senile I will probably never be able to tell one from another. While I like the concept of family reunion in weddings, somehow I do wonder if there is a fine line between that and the desire for economic returns.
Someone suggested something cool recently. Elopement wedding, runaway wedding, whatever you call it. Hahaha. Just run away from the sunny island in the bid to escape the cumbersome banquet, troublesome relatives and sky-high costs of holding a wedding here. I am beginning to like the idea a lot hiaks. Now, for the groom :)

New Shoes by Paolo Nutini
Woke up cold one Tuesday,
I'm looking tired and feeling quite sick,
I felt like there was something missing in my day to day life,
So I quickly opened the wardrobe,
Pulled out some jeans and a T-Shirt that seemed clean,
Topped it off with a pair of old shoes,
That were ripped around the seams,
And I thought these shoes just don't suit me.
[CHORUS:]Hey, I put some new shoes on,And suddenly everything is right,
I said, hey, I put some new shoes on and everybody's smiling,
It so inviting,
Oh, short on money,But long on time,
Slowly strolling in the sweet sunshine,
And I'm running late,
And I don't need an excuse,
'cause I'm wearing my brand new shoes.
Woke up late one Thursday,
And I'm seeing stars as I'm rubbing my eyes,
And I felt like there were two days missing,
As I focused all the time,
And I made my way to the kitchen,
But I had to stop from the shock of what I found,
A room full of all my friends dancing round and round,
And I thought hello new shoes,
Bye bye them blues.
[CHORUS]Take me wandering through these streets,
Where bright lights and angels meet,
Stone to stone they take me on,
I'm walking to the break of dawn. [x2]
[CHORUS (x2)]Take me wandering through these streets

Let Freedom Ring....
I know I should not be judgemental, but I loathe dining with materialistic people. Especially when you are all tired out after work and looking forward to just relaxing...not putting on some fake smile and trying to reply politely to some ire-provoking questions. And wondering if they are judging you by how you look...if that eye-bag and dark eye ring give away those late nights and all that staring at the PC in the day. Argh!!! "All I want is freedom, a world with no more night..."

Cest la vie
Life...
I know that as a child of God I ought to be grateful for life in general. Life itself is so amazing...have you ever pondered over the impossibility of replicating life? Not robots... cross-breeding animals and cloning do not even come close....you are merely replicating. Have you ever just feel the way you are actually taking in breaths and marvel over the mechanism of it all? Everything we do... talking, eating, drinking, exercising... it is truly impossible to recreate. Isn't our God simply amazing?
Yet...it is truly easily to forget all these when you are feeling disturbed or drained from everyday routine. I wanna live again!!!

Of Blogging, Privacy and Self-Obsession
Talking about oneself on the blog smacks of self-obsession? I just read this remark on a friend's blog. If so, then I must be the most self-obsessed individual around! Muahahahaha :)
But seriously. The other day I was on my uncle's car on the way to work and my aunt was ranting about the strangeness of young people's mentality these days. Why do you put up your innermost thoughts on a public domain??? Where is the idea of privacy in this techno age...blah blah. So I came out of my shell and told them about the many purposes that people use the blog for. Like how some people use it as a place for advertisement for marketing purposes, highlighting certain cause that they truly care about etc.
Regarding personal blogs, I somehow doubt people put up their deepest, darkest facade up in the public domain. Most of my friends do some degree of self-censorship and many of their so-called "personal" postings are couched in vague languages so as not to let those they don't consider close know what they actually mean. Yours truly am "guilty" of the same.
Some become so disturbed by the eroding privacy of their personal blogs that they choose to go "private". Which is something perfectly understandable, especially for those who work in the "dark" side hahaha :) Another reason to resist joining.
As for myself, I did have some thoughts about going "private" before. But after thinking about it, I think it is good to keep my blog accessible, especially for the purpose of keeping in contact. As I mentioned in previous posting, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that some people do read my blog to find out how I am doing and according to them, they like what I write. (I think I churn out the most self-obsessed stuff, but if it keeps the readership, why not....muahahahaha)
Just another self-obsession before logging off: I just adore my new pair of shoes from Mitj at Far East Plaza...so pretty and comfy!

Mother's Day

I got an iPod Nano!!! (the white one th0) Free!!! Yup Dad apparently got this as a gift and not knowing how to use the PC, he gave it to me. Now I gotta learn how to operate it without violating anti-piracy laws (oops...am I shooting myself in the foot or what??)
Mom flew over here and we celebrated Mother's Day together with some of the relatives. Dined at the Bosses restaurant (黑社会) at Vivocity. The restaurant offers a great view of the sea, however it was so full that we did not get to sit at the scenic side. The dim sum offered by the restaurant looked very inviting, however we could not get any as they were out of stock apparently. The decor was nice...I really liked the black-themed restaurant, especially with the black lanterns (I noticed that I have this fetish for lamps in general). We walked out to the balcony later and the view of Sentosa Island at night, with the brightly-lit cable cars and the balmy sea breeze blowing pleasantly in your face was really romantic. An idea for lovers out there.

Thoughts on a balmy breeze
Hee... am in office early to update about my life while sipping a cup of tea...absolute necessity during PMS days when I can barely drag my body about.
I foresee busier days ahead...
But the sky seems unusually bright and there is something about the balmy breeze that I really like today as it brings with it the aroma of the days of old, when life was carefree in comparison. Not that I am hating life and wish to escape, but one can't help being nostalgic at some point in time, I suppose. No matter how good life is. And in a sense, it is good despite some lows, which is of course a part of life.
"Happy, happy, happy" *Skip and do some weird dance*
