Happy Lunar New Year of the Ox!

Heyo dear readers of my blog (is there any left?). I am back, after a looong hiatus! January 2009 had been a hectic one for one reason or another. I am still busy with personal and professional stuff and foresee the whole of 2009 to be so. Things have been exceptionally good for me, praise God. Oh, I know this is far too late, being past Yuan Xiao, but a belated happy new year!

I will be making my 1st ever working trip to Washington DC next week. Very excited to see the government offices and museums there, and of course I have been told to expect a shopping list! A pity that the USD is rather steep currently. And it's supposed to be bitterly cold at this time! Another work trip to New Zealand is also to be expected next month. I am very happy as I've yet to visit these two places :) Will post photos on FB.

I have also applied to do my masters in NUS this year. Hope to get it! Although the lack of income during this time is a bit untimely, given the economic crisis and other personal reason. But I figure that I do need the degree and the programme has been touted by many in the know to be good. So...yup!

I was quite annoyed by responses on FB about my posting on Dr. Lee Weiling's essay about materialism. I didn't mean it to be praising her for being raised up humble despite her family's fame in the least. What I was trying to do was to use the article to simply remind certain people I know not to let the accumulation of wealth and material stuff be the focus of their lives. And of those who are unhappy about being reminded of God's word, I guess at the end only He can change the hardness of their hearts.

Otherwise, I think that God has been really good to me.

Oh, I managed to find a great, authentic and cheap Viet food! Yummy Viet, 28 Smith Street. Try it!

Loved Little Nyonya drama serial. This is coming from someone who has not watched Mediacorp production for the past...uncountable years. I have always been interested in Peranakan culture and I think that the effort to portray this on national tv was fantastic. Don't have the same thing to say about the silly three-minute finale, though.
