Power Workout! Or Not quite...

One of my History juniors are getting married and have created a blog on the wedding, for the purpose of RSVPing and introducing the couple. I thought that was a nice idea.

What caught my attention, though, was the groom's admittance that running (or even being active in general) was not something he liked to do. However, under the urging of his then-girlfriend, he undertook it as a regular thing and began to like it, at least grudgingly.

My lifestyle used to be really sedentary. My mum actually revealed to me one day back in primary school in Indonesia that my PE teacher told her that I was "weak". It didn't help that I suffered from regular asthma attacks which made me despise physical activities that would trigger it even more. Even after the asthma became a thing of the past, I still loathed those PE sessions that we all had to undergo twice a week. IPPT was the bane of my life, although I did manage to achieve a Silver in Secondary 3 or 4. I was actually glad that nobody could force me to be physically active anymore in university. I did and still do walk a lot and believed that was sufficient and marvelled at people like Weijin, to whom running is as regular as eating.

Now, I am happy to say that I have attempted to be more of an exerciser over the years!!

Okay, it's actually equivalent to hitting it out at the cross-trainer about once a week at the workplace gym. But if I have a car, like I do for this whole week, I would like to go everyday! I did three days worth of gym at The Sentosa Resort and Spa. Love, love, love the gym. They have the newest equipment and loveliest view. It also didn't stink of sweat, unlike other gyms. Best of all, I usually had the gym all to myself. Loved my arms after those three days!

I think my grudging turn to exercising began when my doctor recommended it as a way to deal with stress and in turn, my thyroid condition. After a (very) slow start, it has picked up somewhat.

But I learned that even staying at 5-star hotels during work trips are terribly boring, even lonely. Okay, I guess I shouldn't be complaining about free trips, because they are wonderful. I doubt I would have anymore chance from now on. Would love a short trip before I embark on my masters, though. Anyway, the nearer thing to look forward to is another workout session tomorrow!
