Style Talk on a Thursday

Let me move on to something lighter for the day. Sorry for the previous post; I'm in such bad humour that I need to let off some steam.

When I reached the final stage of my 20s, I came across this fashion (I don't know if this is actually the right term, given its content) blog http://www.deadfleurette.com/ It has been very inspirational in changing my attitude towards fashion. Those who know me know my especial love of dolling up and experimenting with clothes. With the advent of a "new" age (helped of course by limitation in wardrobe space), I am attempting to adopt a personal approach in my style while not throwing out more money for more potentially unworn stuff. Many impossibly stylish French women advocate the "capsule wardrobe" concept, with few essential basic pieces that will always be worn and only discarded when outmoded or worn out. They may invest more in each piece, but the cost-per-wear is actually very little, given the frequency of wear. This is still more than can be said of my current wardrobe. But I have adopted the perfectionistic scrutiny when buying my clothes and accessories, trying to ensure that I only buy pieces that suit me as if tailored for my body shape and personal style, as well as things that I would want to wear for the next 5-20 years. And yes, I am taking my cue for Coco Chanel, the founder of Chanel. Wouldn't anyone wanna be as stylish as her when you are 60, 70, with those pearls and 2.55??
